Manchester City vs Real Madrid

This summer, names of great stars such as Ronaldo, Kaka, and Benzema have all landed at the Bernabeu due to the largest transfer fees the game has ever seen, but is there something more? Why is it that Manchester City offers stars of similar caliber greater amounts of money and still end up failing to sign big names? My answer: Prestige. I may be biast but I'm sure many can agree that Real Madrid are much more prestigious than Manchester City. Many players, such as Benzema and Ronaldo, when signing for Los Blancos ,admitted that playing for Madrid is a childhood dream. It would be hard pressed to find a superstar whose child hood dream is to wear the baby blue of Manchester City. We all remember how outragous the Manchester City bids are because it is so difficult to imagine these quality footballers playing for the less smiled upon Manchster United rivals. City has put in bids for Villa, Casillas, Kaka, and now Eto'o in the last few transfer windows to name a few . Bids for these players topped even the media frenzy that was the £80million transfer fee made for fan favorite Cristiano Ronaldo by Madrid this summer. Recent reports have predicted that if Cameroon Striker Eto'o signs for Manchester City, he will be the highest payed footballer in the world. If there is anything that these transfers have taught us, it is that the players aren't going for the money, they are going for the football. Which leaves me with a smile.

Viva el Futbol y Hala Madrid,
Bobby
